How does therapy work?

Where do we start? Instead of putting out fires, I want us to work together to deal with what’s causing them in the first place.

We’ll find what works for you and use your strengths to repair what’s not working anymore. We’ll talk about your dreams and what you WANT to see happen in your life.

Then we’ll get to planning and building your bridge to your new life so that you can actually ENJOY what you’ve worked so hard to create!

Therapy with me looks like:

  • Using different therapy approaches (click to find out more!) to discover your patterns of thinking, feeling, and doing
  • Using your strengths, values, and existing coping skills to build new, stronger, more effective  ways of thinking, feeling, and doing, and build relationships that feel good for both you and the other people in your life
  • Making incremental but lasting changes to how you live
  • Finding RELIEF and gaining access to your whole being so you can LIVE and LOVE WELL in ways both you and your loved ones need

Together, we will find ways to help you:

  • Work WITH your emotions and use them to your advantage
  • Know your self-worth
  • Know what matters to you
  • Feel empowered to create healthy boundaries to protect what matters to you
  • Make your relationships more mutually beneficial
  • Live confidently with self-control, not others-control
  • Learn to enjoy life and rest without guilt

I tailor each session by considering both the client’s presenting concerns and personal style – my goal is to meet you where you are at!

AH! Therapy seems scary!

If you often feel embarrassed or ashamed, take a deep breath. It’s normal to feel nervous when meeting a new therapist! But you should know I won’t be looking down from an ivory tower to

“analyze” you. Therapy is a safe space where you won’t be getting any shame or judgment. And I love to laugh and get comfortable with clients – I hope you like bad jokes!

Good news! Therapy doesn’t have to be scary because it’s not always about facing the hard things. Sometimes it’s about dreaming about the life you want to create, celebrating the wins you’ve made, and making more room for what excites and nourishes you.

Big emotions like anger, sadness, and fear can be really overwhelming and confusing, but there’s probably a good reason WHY they’re coming up. I make it easier to understand what your feelings are revealing about your needs and what actions you can take to get them met.

ENOUGH ABOUT ME! Let’s work on creating joy for you.
